What treatments are available for acne?
Many different treatment options are available at Renu Skin Center. Options vary from starting a facial cleansing system, a prescription topical ointment, a combination treatment of microdermabrasion and blue LED light, an IPL treatments, to a Laser treatments. As different patients will have acne of different types and stages, a consultation is required to start on a proper path.

What is Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is performed in a doctor’s office and requires no anesthesia. Using a diamond tip precision hand piece with mild suction, the gently abrasive action exfoliates the outermost layers of the skin. The technician can control the power abrasion from a gentle buffing of the skin to deeper exfoliation where needed. At a low power, microdermabrasion might be compared to results similar to those of glycolic acid peels. A full-face treatment generally takes 30 to 40 minutes.

What results can you expect?
Following the treatment, your skin appears lightly pink, but there is no obvious redness. Some patients say their face feels as if their skin has been mildly sun- or wind-burned. The skin may peel. In the case of a deeper treatment level for more blemished or thicker skins, the skin will appear slightly red and swollen from a few hours to a few days. Similar to a light peel, the procedure can improve fine lines and wrinkles, blackheads and whiteheads, superficial pigmentation, and give the skin a healthy-looking glow. It may be used in conjunction with chemical peel or laser skin resurfacing.

What is different about microdermabrasion at Renu Skin Center?
We use a medical grade diamond tip microdermabrasion machine.  The tip of the wand used in micro dermabrasion is made of natural diamond chips, which polish the skin and remove dead cells. The hand-held device contains a vacuuming system that sucks the skin against the abrasive wand tip. Dead cells are then being vacuumed into a waste filter. The result is smooth, shiny and healthy looking skin. Areas closer to the eyes and mouth can that way be treated more successfully. The crystal-free microdermabrasion treatment removes dead skin, wrinkles and blemishes the same way traditional microabrasion does, without any risk of inhalation or ingestion. The natural diamond tip is preferred by many professionals, because it is easier to control and it doesn't irritate the skin.
